How to Clean Lace Curtains

Lace curtains make your house cosy. They let the needed amount of light in the room and make the windows look nicer. But they also accumulate a lot of dust. You need to know how to clean them well, so that they don't look dirty. Here are some useful tips.

There are two ways to clean your curtains – by hands or in your washing machine. House cleaning Melbourne advise to choose washing machine cleaning only if it is allowed. Otherwise, you can damage your curtains severely.

Follow these tips if you intend to wash by hands:
  • Take off the curtains and place them on a table.
  • Get a bucket of warm water and add some detergent. Mix very well until you get suds.
  • Soak the curtains into the bucket and leave them like that for about 15 – 20 minutes. Make sure that all parts of the curtains are underwater.
  • Then, take the curtains out of the bucket and rinse them in the sink with plenty of water. Press the curtains between two towels to remove as much of the left water as you can.
  • Dry the curtains. The best way to do that is to hang them outside in the sun.

If you decide to wash them in the washing machine, fill it up with cool water. Run a short wash cycle with a mild detergent. In the end, dry in the sun.

If the above advice doesn't suit you, you can always call cleaning Melbourne.
